A magnet for quirky shops and pedestrian-centric eateries targeting the college crowds of Brown University and nearby RI School of Design (RISD), Thayer Street is now anchored by this new four story structure. The upper three floors are dedicated to Brown University’s brand new Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship, while Shake Shack – a gourmet casual food powerhouse in its very first Rhode Island location – occupies the ground level servicing the lively community of the Upper East side. A refined use of stone, metal panel and glazing gives the overall massing its jewel-like characteristics. The neighborhood’s masterplan focuses on mixed use development, and this project is anticipated to be a catalyst in stimulating further growth and development of this scale for forthcoming built projects in this neighborhood
