Eric is the founding Principal of ZDS and a lead contributor to the firm’s continuing success. He carries nearly two decades of project management experience in the hospitality industry. He has designed and managed luxury hotels and mixed use properties through the United States, Middle East, China, and Southeast Asia. Some of his greatest works include luxury hotels in India, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh. After 15 years as a Principal, Director of Operations, and Lead Project Manager at his previous firm, Eric turned back to his hometown to build a firm that threads those international experiences into the more regionalized fabric of the United States. Eric's daily quest for a successful balance between creative thinking, exceptional design, and efficient execution, reinforces his passion for the design industry and his persistent desire to provide his clients with profitable and successful properties. He received his B.Arch from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. He is licensed to practice architecture in multiple states, is NCARB certified, and is LEED accredited. Eric also currently serves as Past President on the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Rhode Island Board of Directors. He was born and still a proud resident of the State of Rhode Island.
Julie is a Project Manager and Associate with ZDS Inc. At the start of her career, she worked in the Boston area focusing on large-scale international hospitality / master planning projects. Shortly thereafter, she established her career in Rhode Island focusing on higher education, multi-unit and hospitality projects throughout Greater New England. Her experience on high-profile Higher Education as well as challenging publicly-funded projects required care and expertise in effectively producing economical yet timeless buildings. With a passion and interest in historic structures and adaptive reuse, Julie has led multiple renovation and rehabilitation projects through successful design and construction efforts, developing strong relationships and producing spaces valued by their users.
Robert McClennan is a registered Architect and Managing Director in our Washington, DC. He brings over 25 years of experience in the Architectural field working with multiple scales, styles, and typologies. His range of project experience from design through construction includes retail, mixed-use, master planning, adaptive reuse, educational, luxury residential, and affordable/ special needs housing. Rob has been involved with the design success of numerous projects throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region including Jackson Crossing, Midtown Row, Pennsylvania Ave, and Lightfoot Market. Specifically, he has overseen the design and implementation of urban retail and planning projects which integrates into their context while enhancing the pedestrian experience.
Billie is our Interior Design Director at ZDS and brings with her over twenty years of experience in both domestic and international interior design. Billie previously worked as a Senior Design consultant to a globally recognized hospitality design firm, leading all aspects of projects with focus on Asian and Middle East luxury hotel markets including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and China, as well as domestic projects for world leading hotel management companies. Billie has extensive experience with custom FF&A and the coordination with vendors both internationally and domestic. Always respectful of client’s needs, budgets, and PIP requirements, she is able to design within the parameters of the clients need while exceeding their expectations.
